Abstract

|
|
Renal sodium excretion and free water reabsorption, was examined in untreated 9 patients with congestive heart failure and in 9 normal subjects determined by photometry. Serum and urine osmolarity were measured by advance osmometer.
(Ta2o+Cna)/Ccr was used as an index of fractional distal nephron (ascending loop of Henle and distal tubule) sodium load, and TH2o+C as the percent of this load reabsorbed at the distal nephron.
The results were as follows.
1) C was diminished significantly in congestive heart failure.
2) Cim and TH2o were diminished significantly but Crim/GFR and Tx2o/GFR were not diminished in congestive heart failure.
3) Cna, UnaV and Cna+Tx2o were diminished significantly, but C./GFR, PnaXCcr-UnaV/GFR, Cna¡¾Tx2o/GFR and Tn2o/Tu2o+Cna were not diminished in congestive heart failure.
